Stories and Songs and Art & Crafts … all very powerful pieces in learning ... language, vocabulary ... prompting discussions and questions and imaginings!
~ Calendars and Valentine’s Day ~

As each new month begins it has become a fun practice to create either classroom calendars (for the younger groups) and individual calendars that students can take home in the older classes
• reinforcing skills - planning, organizing … language!, creating visuals, a visual balance of grid formatting, a physical calendar to reinforce comprehension … then all the related skills of math - measurement, number order ... ohh yes … AND creativity … and surely much more!

• Marking special events and holidays – noting New Years, Valentines Day, Half-Term, Assessments, Program Day, End of Term . . . even a video call on WhatsApp to the United States!
• A particular highlight of this 1st term was when students and teachers were able to take part in video calls over two days (early in the school day there in Kenya … and about midnight CST in Sioux Falls, SD with Gideon and Paula.
- Students shared smiles and hellos, stories, and songs
- Gideon and Paula shared greetings back, answered questions, and shared plans to join them in April.
